My Journey In 1995, I began having Reflexology treatments to help me relax and to improve my general health and wellbeing. I was so impressed with the results, that I started to read about complementary therapies and explore the various training courses available. Having taken voluntary severance from my full-time work in communications, I decided to use this opportunity to change my career and pursue my interest in complementary healthcare. After completing a Diploma in Reflexology and Anatomy & Physiology in 2003/04 at my local college, I had the opportunity to attend a seminar with Dwight Byers, President of the International Institute of Reflexology. Dwight is the nephew of Eunice Ingham, the pioneer of modern reflexology. I was so impressed with the Original Ingham Method and the knowledge of the IIR-trained practitioners that I decided to advance my knowledge and skills and sign up for the full Reflexology Diploma course offered by the International Institute. Along the way, I developed an interest in the mind-body connection in health and ill health, and undertook a first and second degree in Reiki and I am nearing completion of an NCFE Certificate in Life Coaching. I work with the West Leicestershire MIND charity and provide treatments from my home, as well as offering home visits for the elderly and disabled. I am enthusiastic about broadening my therapy base and am keen to complete a NCFE Diploma in Life Coaching and further post-graduate courses in Maternity Reflexology and Hand Reflexology over the coming year.
